Legal Counsel Banking

Job description

Why you’ll love working with us

We live in a world where almost everything is always changing — the way we travel, study, live and work. One thing is for sure, however: everyone loves to connect.

We believe in creating a fun, creative and inspiring environment where anyone can live, work, play and grow. To get there we rely on our team of fun, smart and motivated people to embrace the student spirit and bring it to life.

We have big plans — including our goal to have 65 locations across Europe in 2023, with 26,000 rooms and almost one million square meters of shared spaces. Our new TSHLife app and digital platform will connect nearly a million current and former co-living and co-working guests.

In 2019 we’re about to enter a phase of hypergrowth — after opening 12 operational hotels in our scale-up phase, we’re now ready to grow into an industry-leading company, redefining the concept of a hotel as the world knows it.

What your job will look like

You won’t be working at an ordinary legal department. Because of our rapid expansion and ambitious growth plans we’ve got more going on than just the day-to-day legal business you would expect at a hotel company — there’s also an extensive range of other responsibilities.

The Legal, Compliance & Banking department (LC&B) is not only responsible for all legal affairs, but also takes care of legal matters related to acquisition and development of our new locations, as well as obtaining and maintaining the financing for these new projects. That’s the part where you come in!

The rapid, international expansion of our company leads to the continuous need for funding (acquisition, development and investment finance). Our department works in close cooperation with the Finance team, actively engages with banks across Europe for the (re)financing of new and existing projects (stand alone, club and bond financing).

There are a lot of responsibilities on everyone’s plate, but we never forget our TSH DNA — we combine our extensive legal experience with a young at heart mentality!

Why do we need you?

You’ll support the cross-sector banking team (finance and legal) with the drafting and reviewing process of all relevant bank/security documentation while gathering the condition precedents.

In addition, you’ll be involved in the day-to-day legal business of our operation, by supporting our HQ as well as our hotels in contract negotiations with our suppliers and guests.

You’ll have the support of international law firms and debt advisors where appropriate and are expected to project manage and review their work in order to meet tight deadlines and come to smooth closings.
