What you’ll be doing to make it happen

 

You will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Corporate Services (CCS) and you will perform the following functions that include, but are not limited to:

 

1. Tax structuring:

 

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining a tax efficient corporate structure. Within that framework you will:


Review and optimise current corporate/tax structure (tax planning)

Set up new structures for new jurisdictions

Support in M&A and Development projects (the company is growing and doing a lot of acquisitions, so there is a lot of interesting acquisition and post-acquisition tax work)

Incorporate and maintain a tax efficient intercompany funding framework

Advice on appropriate debt equity levels throughout the various jurisdictions

Implement, update and maintain our transfer pricing policy in various jurisdictions

You will be working closely together with the finance, legal and treasury & banking teams 

Furthermore, you will have the support of international law firms and tax advisors and are expected to project manage and review their work in order to meet deadlines and come to smooth closings.

 

2. Tax compliance:

 

You will be responsible for global tax compliance of The Student Hotel group. Within that context you will:

 

Monitor and coordinate tax global compliance process (a.o. CIT, VAT, city tax, property tax, withholding tax, etc)

Support the operations as well as the HQ departments with day-to-day questions

Contribute to the tax awareness and activities within the group

Review tax positions and tax returns and provide input with respect to potential optimisations

Support on tax audits and tax policy efforts

Review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions

Maintain an overview of (legislative evolutions in) applicable taxes for TSH (e.g. CIT, VAT, city tax, property tax, etc.).

Prepare a tracking system to ensure company-wide tax returns (VAT, CIT, W/T, payroll taxes, etc.) are filled timely by the regional

Formally review/ audit regularly on sample basis, company tax returns to validate their accuracy.

Requirements

Who are you?

  • You are the number cruncher and you know how to connect, share and learn in a team.

Background

  • University degree in (Dutch) fiscal law or fiscal economics
  • About 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in tax advisory obtained within a general international tax practice and/or as an in-house tax specialist of a multinational
  • Good overview of international tax landscape and specific understanding of the Dutch participation exemption, interest deduction rules, fiscal unity regulations, city tax, withholding taxes, tax treaties
  • Proficient level of financials and ability to read financial statements
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point
  • You are proactive and biased to action: pro-active, “hands-on”, and “can-do” attitude with a rigorous and precise attitude capable to adapt to fast paced environment – we are a lean team and many times responsibilities may fall out of one’s exact job description; we are looking for folks that are willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
  • Excellent planning skills and the ability to work with deadlines with little supervision
  • Ability and enjoy working in an international team
  • Native level of English is essential, other European languages are an advantage
