Biggest challenge and WHY do we need you?

As GL accountant for Northern Europe you’ll play a very important role in the day-to-day financial operations of The Student Hotel Group, which consist of hotels, restaurants and coworking locations in the Netherlands, Germany and Austria.  

You’ll also play a key part in the Northern Europe financial team and will have frequent interactions with other colleagues in the finance department and other operational teams in the company.  

In this role, you’ll work with the Accounting Manager and Financial Controller to ensure accurate and timely reporting of the financial results, while working on improving the internal control processes for our locations in Northern Europe.


What will you be doing to make that happen?

  • Prepare monthly accruals and provisions, including payroll related items
  • Reconcile POS system on the balance sheet
  • Prepare reconciliation of all balance sheet items and documentation for review
  • Prepare VAT Returns, including journal entries
  • Reconciliation of intercompany accounts
  • Fixed Asset Accounting
  • Actively participate in the month end closing with first responsibility for several entities
  • Support ad hoc projects within TSH


Who are you?  

You’re an Excel master and know your way around both PMS and POS systems. Deadlines don’t scare you, and you always stay on top of your game in demanding and stressful situations. You know how to make your colleagues laugh after confronting them with their own mistakes — so it’s never awkward drinking a beer together on Friday afternoons.



  • Accounting degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in a financial department
  • Experience working in the finance department of a large, multinational organization
  • Eye for detail
  • Ability to think process-oriented and able come up with improvements
  • Great English communication skills (Dutch or German is an advantage)
  • Preferable work experience in German and/or Austria market 
  • Time management skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
