Biggest challenge and WHY do we need you?

As the main accountant for Northern Europe you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of The Student Hotel Group, which consists of various hotels, restaurants and coworking locations in Europe.


You'll be a key player in the finance team for Northern Europe and will have frequent interactions with HQ for all management entities located in the Netherlands, while being supported by GL accountant(s) in day-to-day activities.


In this role, you'll work with the financial controller of Northern Europe to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial statements, while working on improving the internal control processes for TSH.

What will you be doing to make that happen?

  • Ensure that reconciliations of all accounts (incl. intercompany) are performed in a timely manner.
  • Review and analyze balance sheet items, incl. ensuring that all supporting documentation for balances are provided
  • Maintain permanent files for all entities
  • Prepare annual financial statements and reports
  • Manage the external audit process for HQ and Northern Europe entities
  • Perform internal control activities (incl. review entries by other team members) and work on improving internal control
  • Support ad hoc projects within TSH


Who are you?  

Deadlines don’t scare you, and you always stay on top of your game in demanding and stressful situations. You know how to make your colleagues laugh after confronting them with their own mistakes — so it’s never awkward drinking a beer together on Friday afternoons.


  • Accounting degree or its equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years working experience in the finance department of a large, multinational organization or audit firm
  • Detailed knowledge of Dutch GAAP or IFRS
  • Understanding of main differences between Dutch GAAP and IFRS
  • Eye for detail
  • Ability to think process-oriented and come up with improvement
  • Great communication skills in English (Dutch or German is an advantage)
  • Time management skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
